Tell us a bit about your business.
I am a career coach and resume writer. I was inspired to start my business, out of necessity, way back in the 1980s. A health challenge forced me to leave my career as a television broadcast engineer, so I reinvented myself as a resume writer (career coaches didn’t exist at the time).
Since then, I’ve continued to grow by differentiating myself through self-discovery and a mindful approach, and sharing expertise and discoveries I’ve learned as a certified professional behavior analyst and Buddhist teacher.
How has your business progressed recently and what do you attribute that to? Where do you see your business in one year?
I’ve been trying to get more visibility around what I can offer to stressed-out job seekers and professionals through my unique coaching approach. My approach combines Buddhist-inspired mindfulness practices and behavioral teachings with a solid understanding of the client’s values, motivators and behavioral style.
Looking forward, I would like to gain more coaching clients with this focus through targeted social media posts and blog posts, and by offering an e-book.
What are your favorite tools or resources that help you do business smarter, and how have they made a difference?
LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. I also use Hootsuite to schedule posts.
What advice would you offer to businesses like yours just starting up?
Harness the power of the web and social media immediately. I waited too long!
Where can customers find and connect with your business?
AboveAllResumes.com, DISCareer.com, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.
